Stop a while, listen and make art with sound.
It is always a good thing to take some time out for yourself. If you would like to rest and just sit, brilliant, do exactly that. If you would like you can do an activity. Sound art is an example of one you can do; explore the amazing sounds in nature.
Michelle the Arts Officer has really captured the sounds of nature in this video. You can hear the birds and also the running water of the river, listen and see what else you can hear.
Explore different places, and times of year.
Check out different landscapes; urban, beside the water, outside where you live, forests, woods and beaches to name a few. You can also see what difference time makes to the sounds. What does it sound like at night or in the morning. Different times of year and different weather all make a difference to sound. You can really explore one spot throughout the year. Build up a sound profile for one of your favourite places. You can explore many places and check out all the differing sounds in your area.
Here are two soundscapes that were taken by young people in youth groups. You can really hear how nature can sound so vastly different.
